What To Expect From A Professional Family Photoshoot
Why every family should book in for a family photoshoot…
No matter what ages your children are, booking in for a family photoshoot can be daunting.
This worry stems from every parent knowing the struggle of trying to take a good picture of your children. There never seems to be a good time. They always appear to be mucky or, as soon as a picture is suggested, you are greeted with a frown that won’t budge.
No parent wants to invest in a professional family photoshoot if it is going to be a complete waste of money.
Will they behave? Will they look miserable the whole time? Will they refuse to look at the camera? Will there be a tantrum?
Some older children may be nervous or anxious about being in front of the camera and may not know how to stand. Jen Pisani Photography, which specializes in Kingwood senior pictures, headshots, and portraits, provides some brilliant examples to parents and teenagers about how to pose, how to stand, and how to look at the camera. Looking at these ideas with your child before the photoshoot takes place should help to calm any worries or concerns that your child may have.
Despite these worries, it is so important to capture our children growing up – the cute stages, the awkward stages and the downright ugly stages – you want to remember them all. Let’s have a look at some of the main things to expect and know when attending a professional family photoshoot.
Be yourselves…
The main thing to expect when you turn up to a family photoshoot is that the photographer will be expecting you all to let loose. To capture your family’s character, you will all need to be prepared to be yourselves and relax. This might take a bit of time, but after a few shots in the studio, there’s no doubt you will feel at ease in no time.
Nousha are based in London and specialise in child and family portrait photography. Their aim with professional photography is to encourage families to be themselves so that their unique personalities and relationships can be captured on camera – making for some truly magical photos. You want your photos to be full of life and laughter – so let yourself go!
Setting…
It’s a good idea to check with the photographer beforehand what the setting will be. Some photographers will use a variety of fun props and backgrounds, whereas others will keep it simple with a plain white backdrop.
This means you can dress yourself and your kids accordingly. There’s no good turning up in summer clothes if the studio is going to be chilly and vice versa, you don’t want to end up with pictures where everyone’s looking a bit sweaty.
Simple questions about the setting and props are worth asking to avoid any confusion and moaning children on the day.
What to wear…
As well as asking about the setting and temperature, it is important to check with your photographer what you should wear. Often for a family photoshoot, people are asked to bring a couple of outfits and to try and coordinate to some extent. This doesn’t mean that you all have to wear the same colour, but there’s no good one person wearing a floral dress and one wearing a checked shirt – avoid too much clashing.
If you’ve got any particularly young or accident-prone children, it might be a good idea to take a few outfit options even if your photographer hasn’t said so!
Good night’s sleep…
The final thing to keep in mind is that photoshoots can require a lot of energy and patience – especially for children. Although they are fun, your children will probably get tired out or restless sooner or later. The night before your family photoshoot, make sure you are all in bed at a reasonable time and well rested – partially to avoid eye-bags but mainly to avoid tantrums.
As you can see, going for a family photoshoot is actually really just a fun activity for all the family – there’s nothing big to worry about. If you want to make sure that your family definitely has a good time, booking in with a more relaxed and modern photography company like Nousha is a great idea.
