Valentines Day Arts and Crafts with Bostik
It’s February, and that means it’s nearly Valentines Day. To get us in the mood for the occasion we’ve been doing a spot of Arts and Crafts this week. The reason why we’ve been doing this is because we have been selected to be part of the #BostikBlogger campaign which we are very excited about. So watch this space every month to see what we’ve been getting up to.
This month it’s all about Valentines Day, and I was so excited when I opened our kit, as was my daughter. It was full to the brim of pink and purple paper, fabrics, flowers, hearts, card, pipe cleaners and Bostik Glue Dots and Bostik Blu Tack. I was really impressed and we couldn’t wait to get started.
We decided that we would make some bunting and a selection of cards, all of which are really easy to make at home, and with children of all ages. My daughter is two and she loved getting involved, albeit it a little messy, but that’s the point of doing Arts and Crafts with a toddler…..it’s for them to learn and explore.
Here’s what we made, what you need and how to make it:
Valentines Day Bunting
What you need:
- 1 x piece of ribbon (at any length you like for your bunting)
- Pieces of card or fabric
- Heart decorations
- Bostik Glue Dots
How to make
- First of all cut your ribbon to your desired length. We cut ours to 1 metre to fit across the door of my daughter’s bedroom.
- Next cut out triangles from your card and fabric. It might be best to get an adult to do this, depending on the age of your child.
- Simply apply the triangles next to each other on the ribbon using the Bostik Glue Dots
- Then using the Bostik Glue Dots apply the hearts to where each triangle meets another triangle on the ribbon.
- That’s it, done. Hang the bunting on your wall to celebrate the day.
Heart Bunting
What you need:
- 1 x piece of pink or purple string (or any colour that you wish)
- Range of hearts (cardboard, foam, doily)
- Another piece of string in a different colour
- Hole punch
How to make:
- Cut the string to your desired for hanging the hearts from.
- Take each heart and punch a hole into it using a hole punch.
- Cut the other piece of string into 20 centimetre lengths
- Take each heart and one 20 centimetre piece of string, loop the string through the hole, and then tie to the longer piece of string.
- Repeat this process until you have filled the length of your string with your hearts.
- Once this is complete, find a doorway, wall, or fireplace to hang your heart bunting in your home.
Valentines Day Cards
What you need:
- Card for each Valentines Day card
- Bostik Blu Tak
- Bostik Glue Dots
- Small Hearts
- Pipe cleaner
- Heart stickers
How to make:
- Take each piece of card and fold in half to create the card.
- Let your child or toddler go to town on applying heart stickers, and hearts using the Bostik Glue Dots.
- Bend a pipe cleaner into a small red heart and apply to the card using the Bostik Blue Tak
- Write any message you like on the front and inside the card
- That’s it! You can make these cards as clever or keep them as simple as you like.
I was really impressed with the Bostik Glue Dots, they were so easy to use, and required no need for a glue stick that can get very messy. You just simple take each glue dot, remove the back and front cover, and apply to what you want to stick. We had no problem using the Glue Dots on card, paper and fabric.
As you can see all these activities are really simple to do and will keep your children entertained, or keep us as adults entertained too.
Keep an eye out for our next Arts and Crafts post which will be all about Easter.
Have you been busy making things for Valentines Day? I would love to see and hear what you’ve been up too.
