Our ideal living room and bedroom

Having a child means that we need more space for all their stuff. And, space is something that we are fast running out of in our current home. At some point in the not too distant future we will need to move out of our two bedroom flat in London into a bigger property. The thought of moving is daunting, yet exciting at the same time. It’s exciting because it will mean new furniture and new decor. Thinking ahead to the future I’ve started to create what I see as our ideal living room and bedroom.

Starting with the living room here’s what I would do:

• Choose gorgeous Quercus Furniture that is part of a same range, so that all items are matching and more importantly look good together. I would love to have a bookcase, coffee table and nest of tables in the room, alongside the sofa.
• Pick soft textured white and grey cushions in a variety of different fabrics. I like to have a lot of cushions as I feel that they really make a room, plus they are a simple way of accessorising in your desired colour scheme.
• Choose a rug that the coffee table will sit on. This rug will match the cushions and the internal decoration of the room.
• Paint the room in a warm grey tone (can you can tell that I am loving grey at the moment).
• Try and focus the room on the fireplace, and not the TV. I would love to have a traditional Victorian fireplace that can be dressed up with stylish accessories.

Then onto the bedroom. This is such an important room, and one that is often overlooked as we tend to focus on the living spaces. The bedroom is a room that we should relax in, and feel comfortable in. Here’s how I would create my ideal bedroom:

• Just like the living room I would choose Quercus Furniture for the bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and a mirror.
• I would select neutral fabrics and colours for the duvet and pillowcases, and have a range of cushions on the bed. I really like having cushions on the bed, it makes it look so inviting.
• Select black-out curtains or blinds again in a neutral colour, with tones of either white, cream or grey.
• Place family pictures and photos around the room. At the moment I’m a massive fan of black and white photography, making the images look classic and timeless.
• Choose soft lighting that make the room seem cosy and inviting, yet allowing you to snuggle up in bed with a good book.

So that’s it, that’s how I would create our ideal living room or bedroom in our future home. If you could create your perfect room, how would you do it?
