A review of Hilden Manor Beefeater, Tonbridge
We were recently invited to the newly refurbished Hilden Manor Beefeater just outside Tonbridge in Kent. I remember going to Beefeater restaurants as a child with my parents, but have been to none since, so I was really intrigued about visiting the restaurant as an adult.
When we arrived we parked in the huge car park, and walked round to the front of the restaurant through the beer garden. On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who promptly showed us to our table, provided us with a high chair, and gave us a menu with all the food that you could possibly want.
We quickly ordered our drinks, and my husband and I were impressed with the range of beers and wines on the menu. I went for a large glass of white Campo Viejo, and my husband went for an Adnams Mosaic Pale Ale.
The children’s menu was excellent, with a range of meal deals containing starters, main courses, desserts and drinks. We were also given crayons and paper, which helped to keep our daughter entertained. For our daughter we chose cheesy topped nachos to start, followed by chicken popcorn, chips and beans for her main course. She also had a glass of blackcurrent juice included as part of her meal deal.
For us we opted to share a giant garlic bread platter to start, which was huge and tasty. Then for our mains my husband had Surf and Turf, and I enjoyed a 10oz Rib Eye Steak with a Bearnaise Sauce. Who can say no to steak? The steaks were cooked as we ordered, and really tasty. Both meals were served with chips and a side salad.
Having munched our way through a huge starter, and main course, we couldn’t resist dessert. We shared a chocolate brownie with ice cream, which was delicious, even our daughter got involved in eating some.
The waiting staff were attentive throughout our meal making sure we had enough drinks or if there was anything else we needed.
As I mentioned at the start of this blog post the Hilden Manor Beefeater has recently undergone a refurbishment. Now it’s bright and airy, with a grey and yellow colour scheme. There are also some quirky pictures on the wall, that I couldn’t help but take pictures of.
As a final point I always take a look at the baby change in restaurants, and I can say that this one was high up on my list of standards, and it was modern, clean and tidy.
Having not been to a Beefeater for years and years overall we were really impressed with Hilden Manor, and we would definitely consider another Beefeater again in the future. Thank you Hilden Manor Beefeater for an enjoyable Sunday lunch.
