2017 Blog Goals
Happy New Year everyone! I hope that everyone had a lovely Christmas and New Year? Now that it’s the start of a new year I’m turning my attention to what I want to achieve from my blog. In 3 days time my blog will be 1 year old, and I feel incredibly proud for what I achieved in 2016 with The Pramshed. I never realised that I would love it as much as I do. Nor did I think that it would enjoy writing as much, chatting to bloggers, and promoting my posts on social media. So now it’s time to turn my attention to my 2017 Blog Goals.
I started to complete the blog course that Aby from You Baby Me Mummy was running in December. However I’ve had to put this to one side due to our recent holiday and Christmas. Now with the new year upon us I want to complete this course in Q1 which should hopefully help me identify where I can improve and how I can grow my blog. I then hope to take my goals and break them down into more manageable and measurable chunks that can be achieved every quarter rather than having a big rush at the end of the year
Here are my goals for 2017 are:
Goal 1: To be better organised with my blogging and put more of a structure in place. I found last year when I was behind with writing I would start to feel a little stressed and overwhelmed. In reality I can only post twice a week plus my Linky post, and anything more than that is a bonus. To do this I’m going to try to post on a Sunday and Wednesday, which should set the week off to a good start. I’ll use my commute for #fortheloveofBLOG linky commenting and Friday night for writing the Linky post.
Goal 2: To be better with my social media use. This is an area that I can really improve on as I currently spend every bit of free time checking Twitter, Facebook or Instagram which is obviously not the best use of time. Instead what I want to do is dedicate chunks of time to social media use by limiting it to 9pm, and any time after that is spent writing posts or commenting.
Goal 3: To set my core blog brand values. After attending the brand course at Blogfest I realised how important it is to set your brand pillars and stick to these, which should help define your brand. I’m going to spend the first quarter of 2017 really thinking about my blog as a brand to help determine its direction and niche.
Goal 4: Have a permanent brand partnership set-up. I worked with some really lovely brands in 2016 that I feel are matched well to my blog, these include My Little Piccolo and Fred. In 2017 I would really love to have a permanent brand partnership set-up.
Goal 5: To attend at least two blog conferences. I already have my ticket purchased to the Lucky Things Meet Up hosted by Sunita from Lucky Things Blog that I’m attending later this month. I know that this will be a really good event, and I’m already looking forward to meeting up with other bloggers and seeing how I can take my blog further. I would also like to attend Britmums Live again too, as their conference last year was excellent.
Goal 6: To continue co-hosting #fortheloveofBLOG. Myself and Fi from A Mum Track Mind had a brilliant year in 2016 with the Linky, and have already formed a community. We have exciting plans for 2017 and have now launched our Facebook page. I would love the Linky to continue being a success, with regular bloggers returning each week to link up, and seeing our community grow. It would be nice if we could have a #fortheloveofBLOG group photo at a future blogging conference.
Goal 7: To improve my stats. We all love stats, who doesn’t? I love checking mine as it helps to motivate and drive me. For 2017 I would like to see:
Twitter – 10,000 followers
Facebook – 250 followers
Instagram – 1,000 followers
Page views – maintain over 5000 page views a month
That’s it, those are my blogging goals for 2017. I feel that they are all achievable with hard work and discipline. I’ve learnt so much from one year of blogging in 2016 that I can apply to 2017, so watch this space to see how I get on.
What are you blog goals for 2017? I would love to hear from you.

Well done on everything you achieved in 2016 . I’m also imposing a social media curfew. – we’ll see how it goes #fortheloveofblog
Dave - dad's turn
Good luck! That’s a long way you’ve come in just a year (further than me!) so they’re very achievable goals for you for 2017 I should think #fortheloveofblog

It was really interesting reading this Clare – I’m the same, having little time to actually write posts and spending too much on social media. Wish I could put chunks of time aside! I’m going to try and ask my Mum to help with childcare a couple of times a week so I can take a couple of hours to myself to write…
Amazing goals – imagine 10000 followers on Twitter! Sure you’ll get there 🙂

Happy New year, Claire!!! These sound like good goals to have. I had a lot of time to reflect over Christmas – One year into my own blog. I need to do some things differently and get a part time job too. I’ve been fairly laid back, despite not managing my Mon We Fri Schedule for the last few weeks but tbh, I need to chill a bit more!! I really hope you achieve your goals! Glad the linky is back #Fortheloveofblog
Cathryn - Little Paper Swans
You’ve achieved so much in a year!! It’s taken me nearly five years to get this blogging thing nailed down. I share similar goals to you. And so far I’m doing quite well (only 7 days in haha)

Some brilliant goals here and I’m sure you’ll smash them. I love reading people’s goals. PS. You have some superb stats! #fortheloveofblog
Emma | Me, Bee and Bo
Those are great goals – I need to be more organised with my blogging too. I tend to find if I get overwhelmed I end up needing to step away! Good luck and happy New Year! Xx
Nadia - ScandiMummy
Love these goals. Good luck. I’m also working on my brand values and have just ordered that book. Can’t wait to read it. Good luck – I’m sure you’ll have a fantastic 2017 and hope to see you at the blogging conferences #fortheloveofBLOG

I found this really helpful too! The idea of brand is so important – alongside having the ability to say no to things that don’t fit! #fortheloveofBLOG
the frenchie mummy
Very good targets! Like you I spend way too much time on social media not achieving anything… I reckon 3 posts a week is good when you are working. I am trying to have the same rate so that I don’t get too stressed out. Good luck with your stats! #fortheloveofBLOG
Emma (Upside Mum)
Great goals. You achieved so much in 2016. Hope you achieve all you have set out to do. Love the linky and glad to see it back, thanks for hosting. The Facebook group is a great idea too! #fortheloveofBLOG

Brilliant and well done you for such a successful year. You have some great goals in place and some lovely challenges. It takes great willpower to not over do it on the social media front. Very easy to get sucked in. I like the sound of the brand talk – I obviously missed that one! #fortheloveofblog
Lorna
Great post and great goals, really great to see what others have achieved, it makes it seem more possible to do it if i organise myself, and do not get sucked into social media all the time!!

These are definitely achievable goals for the year, fingers crossed for you 🙂 #fortheloveofblog

A great set of goals and definitely very similar to mine (although I haven’t been brave enough to write mine down!). My other goal is to join in with your linky consistently! Looking forward to seeing you again at the Lucky Things meetup. I’m hoping to get to Britmums as well. #fortheloveofBLOG

Wow, you certainly have a plan, and those figures! I’d be happy with 300 Twitter followers, 100 Facebook and people other than my mum visiting my blog 😀
I plan to up my blogging game this year, I fell like I’m entering a world I completely don’t understand but hopefully I’ll get my head round it! Thanks for sharing your goals!

Congrats on what you accomplished last year! You have some great targets this year so I hope you hit them; I’m confident you will based on last year. I don’t have big targets for my blog but I just want to continue getting engagement through linkys and return visitors. Writings a post or two which are worthy of a feature post badge would be nice – but that’s a tough one with so many awesome bloggers out there! #fortheloveofBLOG
Squirmy Popple
Good luck with your goals! My main goal for this year is to do more guest posting – I don’t have any plans to monetize my blog, so that seems like the best way to grow. I need to up my social game too, even though promoting myself is the worst part of blogging! #fortheloveofBLOG
Suz
You’ve identified some great goals for 2017. I am very impressed with how you have grown your blog in only 1 year!!! Well done.
I don’t like setting too many goals as I get stressed when I don’t reach them but my main aim is to grow my email list. We’ll see how that works out lol.
#fortheloveofBLOG
OddHogg
I love a good goal – particularly a stats based one! 10,000 followers on twitter would be amazing! My target for the first half of 2017 is just 3000 haha #fortheloveofblog

Fantastic blogging goals and I love the idea of attending a blog conference. I haven’t done any yet and I think I’ll add this to my goal for 2017. #fortheloveofBLOG

These all sound like brilliant and goals for 2017. You’ve achieved so much in a year and I hope I can achieve half as much as you have once I reach my first blogging anniversary. I hadn’t even thought of my blog being a brand and have no idea what direction I’m taking but I’m enjoying it so far. I’m sure you will hit all of your targets and goals for this #fortheloveofblog
Lucy grace
Its amazing that you have achieved so much in just one year! Well done! My goals are very similar to yours, including setting a clear structure to orevent getting overwhelmed and stressed. #fortheloveofBLOG

Your stats are fantastic and I’m sure you’ll achieve all your goals this year. It’s great to try and be organised for the week; I’m only really able to write two or three times a week but I like to link up which makes me feel a bit more visible.
Mackenzie Glanville
I took Aby’s course too, she is such a powerhouse. One of my main goals is to grow my youtube, and I want to keep growing Insta because it is my favourite place to hang out. I also wanted a new blog theme and YAY I have done that already. God luck with your goals xx#fortheloveofblog
Jaki
These are great goals. I need to look into blogging events. I really think I should try and get to one but in all honesty have no clue what’s on and when. Maybe this should be my first goal. #fortheloveofBLOG

Great goals! I have no doubt at all that you will achieve them. I still haven’t got round to writing my goals, one of mine is to be more organised and I am already failing at that! Thank you for having me guest host this week on #fortheloveofBLOG

From Day Dot
You’ve done amazingly well in your first year! Great goals, all achievable which is important too. I haven’t had much chance to think about my goals yet but the big one is to work out how to go self-hosted. Hoping it’s not as difficult as I’m imagining!! #fortheloveofBLOG

Such a well-thought out strategy for growing your blog and online presence – a really fascinating read. As a new blogger, I’m pretty much making it up as I go along, and this post has given me some clarity in terms of next steps, so thank you very much!
#fortheloveofBLOG is awesome, by the way! It’s great to have so many bloggers in one space and I keep coming across really interesting and incredible people – so thanks!

My ambitions aren’t quite as impressive as your ones but let’s hope we both have a cracking 2017 and that I see you at another even soon! #fortheloveofBLOG

Cal at Family Makes
These sound like great blog goals, and I’m sure you will achieve them all. I did Aby’s rap Party, which was brilliant as a motivator and to help set goals. I still need to complete her other course. Good luck with yours, and happy New Year! #FortheloveofBLOG
Sammie
Great goals. I really need to sit down and write some for myself. I am SO disorganised with my blog. x
Mrs Mummy Harris
You have some really good goals here, i’ve found my major hurdle this year to be coinciding my blog with full time work but not letting the blog slip.
Ive got a guest series that started at the weekend and like you, other than that I think only 2 posts is do-able. unfortunately, I will have to stop with some Linkies but this is still going to be one of my keepers as you’re all so friendly here!
I was considering going to the meet up later this month but I’m crap at socialising with strangers, even though through screens I can come across as super friendly! i might take the plunge. not sure yet! though BlogOn in September is an option. Even Hubby said he’s happy to drive me to Manchester and stay in a hotel to drive me there wooo!

You are so brave to put all these down in black and white. But it’s a great incentive. I really should do this to myself. Best of luck. #fortheloveofBLOG

Amazing goals. How specific, my goals were a lot more vague. Maybe when my 1-year mark hits I will be more specific. Best of luck. #fortheloveofBLOG
Susie at This Is Me Now
These are really good goals, and I think you should be able to achieve them. I like what you say about identifying your brand values, I need to perhaps think about that. I’ve done my course with Aby and she is fab isn’t she? She’s really spurred me on this year. Look forward to seeing what happens for you in 2017. #fortheloveofBLOG

You’ve done so much in 2016 I’m sure you’ll achieve fab things in 2017 too. And if you don’t meet some of your goals, that’s cool too. Your blog will still be amazing.

Congrats for all your achievements. It sounds like you are very dedicated and organized. Goal number 2 (in my opinion) is a challenging one because it is very time consuming yet it is important. Thank you for sharing your blogging goals All the best.
