[AD] 5 tips for starting a healthy lifestyle this Autumn
Disclosure – this is an advertorial feature.
With the colder winter months and darker days approaching it’s vital that we continue to maintain or start a healthy lifestyle that may have been easier over the summer. It was certainly easier to absorb all of that Vitamin D during the past six months of sunshine and easier to go for a run at the start or at the end of the day. However all of this is still possible, so here at my 5 tips for starting or maintaining a healthy lifestyle this Autumn and Winter.
Eat better
There may be fewer BBQs and salads, but that’s ok. There are plenty of meals that are packed with winter vegetables, perfect for the darker and colder evenings, such as stews and soups. You can use this time to get creative in the kitchen and see how you can you create a family meal that is packed full of yummy vegetables. It can be as simple as putting all the ingredients into a slow cooker or a one-pot in the oven. You do not need to spend hours slaving away in the kitchen. If eating better is top of your agenda to help reduce your weight, Orlistat offers a helping hand by reducing the fat in your meals so that you don’t have to.
Whilst eating well is great for a healthy lifestyle, you should also consider keeping your essential vitamins topped up, especially Vitamin D when naturally our levels drop during winter months, shopping at an Online Pharmacy is one way to purchase them.
Get exercising
Alongside eating well, exercise is hugely important to get our bodies moving, stronger and fitter, whilst at the same time helping to reduce stress and encouraging us to sleep better. During the summer months it’s easier to exercise outdoors, and I think that the recent Covid-19 lockdown has encouraged us to consider more online exercise classes and exercising in our own homes. So if it’s cold and wet outside a great way to stay exercising or to start exercising is (dare I say it) in front of a TV or laptop, there is a raft of HIIT and yoga exercises, and so much more, that you can participate it for often no fee.
Sleep well
Eating better and exercising will lead to a better sleep. In addition to this one of the things that I try to do is to switch off my brain before going to bed, which is really hard with my job as it’s pretty much always on. So 30 minutes before bed I might read a book or a magazine, or have a shower to wash away the stresses of the day. Seriously it works. I do try to sleep as best as a I can every single night, which includes no checking my phone during the middle of the night, although it can be hard with little ones who decide that night is party time.
Make time for “me time” or self care
This is so so so important for anyone, and even more so for people with busy lifestyles, although it may seem impossible to fit in. It’s really important to take a little bit of time out for yourself, and it doesn’t have to be long. Just 10 minutes to reset is enough, treat yourself to half an hour in the bath or go for a walk by yourself at the end of the day. It’s doing something for you, that enjoy, that will make you feel good.
Think positively
My last point is being positive and thinking positively which can contribute to starting a healthy lifestyle. Thinking that you can achieve something and that you can do it is far better than worrying or thinking negatively about an issue which can in turn lead to stress and lack of sleep. One of the things that I try to do is complete the little things that create positivity, which could be as much as accomplishing a small job around the house or meal planning. Sounds small but they are all positive steps to making life better.
So those are my 5 tips for starting a healthy lifestyle, I would love to hear yours.
